MEMORIAL

Chris

Above is the pic of one the most dearest friends in the world

Christopher John Mickel
on October 14, 1998 I learned that my friend had passed on.
This was one of the most difficult days in my life.

Christopher meant a great deal to me.  He knew me better than some of my closer friends.

I attended his funeral in Pennsylvania and even said a few words about him.  It was nice to meet his family and to see the areas that Chris really cared about.  Through the many chats with him, I got to know that he had a kind heart and really cared about making friends.  He was a
TRUE friend in the strongest meaning of the words.

My words at the funeral, Oct. 17, 1998

At this time I would like to thank Patt for allowing me these few minutes to talk a little about my friend, Christopher John Mickel.

Chris has been one of my best friends that I met through my time on the Internet. Though I have to admit both of us could not remember how we met, but I do remember our first chat back in April.

Over the last 6 1/2 months we chatted close to 500 hours on the phone and Patt all those times when you were standing near Chris were on your phone bill.

Chris had a very a very caring heart and could tell when I was having a bad day. He would hound me until I came clean as to what was bothering me. It was always helpful for me to talk to Chris and I will miss this very much.

Chris was such a great friend that I included 6 of his pics and a brief message abot him on my homepage on the Internet. One of the pics is of him and his lovely mother, Patt. The pics will remain as a small memorial to Chris.

It was easy for Chris to make friends. I have a friend in Australia named Chris - CJM. One day both CJM's and I wound up in a chat and both Chris's became friends. Chris in Australia personally asked me to convey his prayers and condolences to Chris's family. He would have loved to have been here today but at this moment is in Brisbane, Australia saying a prayer for Chris.

Lastly I want to say that Chris touched the lives of a lot of people and we are blessed for having known him for these few months. You touched our hearts and we will miss you dearly.

I LOVE YOU

CHRISTOPHER JOHN MICKEL

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE

To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me, read by Michael Cole

When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy we had so many years.
I gave you my love;
You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you each for the love you have shown.
But now, it's time I travel alone
So, grieve awhile for me, if you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for awhile that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see me or touch me.
I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart
You'll hear all my love around you
Soft and clear,
And, then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and say "Welcome home."
